JERA is an energy company that participates in the entire value chain ranging from upstream development, fuel procurement and power generation to wholesale sales of electricity and gas. As a global company with the largest power generation capacity in Japan and one of the largest fuel handling capacities in the world, we will solve global energy issues and lead the way in realizing a decarbonized society.
JERA was established in 2015 as a joint venture between Japan’s two major power companies — Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and Chubu Electric Power Company.
As a global energy company, JERA’s strengths span the entire energy value chain. Our activities include participation in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and low-carbon fuel projects, fuel procurement, fuel transportation and power generation, as well as large-scale renewable energy development.
Globally, we hold power generation assets with a combined capacity of over 72 GW, trade 36 million tonnes of LNG annually, and supply approximately 30% of Japan’s electricity, making JERA the largest power generation company in Japan.
JERA is actively advancing clean energy initiatives—pioneering the next generation of energy, promoting environmental sustainability, and continuously improving and evolving our corporate culture. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where employees can realize their full potential and contribute to the company’s growth. JERA looks forward to working with talented professionals from diverse fields to shape the next era of energy.
Looking ahead, JERA will continue expanding its low-carbon fuel and renewable energy businesses worldwide, with the ambition of becoming a leader in the global energy sector.
We aim to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, while continuing to deliver innovative solutions to global energy challenges and providing stable, clean, and affordable power to society.
