On 1 September, the Chamber presented the 17th annual business awards at the Shangri-La Far Eastern Hotel in Taipei to companies and organisations that have made outstanding
contributions to business relations between Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan.
The awards were presented by the Australian Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner Brent Moore, New Zealand Trade Commissioner Tina Wilson, and Queensland Commissioner Patrick Hafenstein together with guests of honour Deputy Minister Chern-Chyi "C.C." Chen of the Taiwanese Ministry of Economic Affairs, Representative Jenny Bloomfield of the Australian Office, and Director Mark Pearson of the New Zealand Commerce and Industry Office.

The Australia-Taiwan Business Excellence Award – Penfolds Taiwan
In 2021, the total Australian wine exported to Taiwan reached a historical high, with 3.1M liters in volume and AUD$30.9M in value, which is 25% and 65% YoY increase respectively. As one of the largest Australian wine brands in Taiwan, Penfolds helps to drive Australian wine consumption and recruit more new drinkers with numerous events, including 100+ wine tastings and exhibitions, to make more people taste the beauty of Australian wines. Penfolds also commits to sustainability, by creating long-term value by being sustainable in everything we do, including water stewardship, bottle recycling, and consumer health around the globe.
The Australia-Taiwan Business Partnership Award – Delta Electronics
Delta Electronics (Australia) was the first to design, manufacture and deploy containerized power and cooling solutions used in one of Australia’s fastest-growing hyperscale data centre companies servicing the APAC region. This solution has been instrumental in supporting the ongoing growth of the Data Center Industry in Australia and throughout Asia Pacific. Development of power conditioning solutions for commercial and industrial battery energy storage solutions with EVO power who have deployed solutions for numerous applications including the Narellan Town Center. Delta Electronics (Australia) have also collaborated with Australian organizations including CSIRO and Everty to develop localized electric vehicle charging solutions to help progress Australia’s green electric vehicle future.
The Queensland-Taiwan Business Excellence Award – Lin BioScience
Lin BioScience is conducting Phase 3 clinical trials with the Queensland Eye Institute for First-in-Class Oral Therapy for Treatment of Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Stargardt Disease. Lin BioScience is starting Phase 1 clinical trials with the Gold Coast Private Hospital for treatment of a broad variety of cancer types including Leukemia, Pancreatic Cancer and Ovarian Cancer.

The New Zealand-Taiwan Business Excellence Award – Fonterra Brands (New Young) Pte. Ltd.
During the past few years of COVID crisis, we are facing various challenges such as global shipment disruption, supply chain constraint, and labour force shortage. However, New Young keeps continuing to work as best partner with Fonterra and hit a record high revenue at Year 2021-2022 and increasing market share across whole range of dairy categories, such as butter, fresh cheese, processed cheese, cream and milk. Moreover, they have forward-looking collaborations between brands and academics, this can interpret “Anchor” as a high-quality and high-safety food ingredients brand to our future bakery and food service personnel and the diligent fellows within a few famous catering education institutes. Importantly, they continue to work with their sponsored universities to hold baking competitions which create many hot topics between the business and industry after the contests.
The New Zealand-Taiwan Business Partnership Award – Liv Ming International Co., Ltd
In 2016, Jason and Rico decided to set up their own wine importing business, Liv-Ming International. Liv-Ming represents a range of wines but New Zealand wines is their focus. The business has been evolving and growing impressively from representing 1 winery in 2016 to 7 premium NZ-branded wineries in 2022. With the number of NZ wineries that Liv-Ming represents, their clients are able to see a range of NZ offerings that impress them. Looking forward, Liv-Ming’s aspiration is to build a complete portfolio of NZ wines so that their food service clients can find paring NZ wine(s) from Liv-Ming’s portfolio. For the short to medium term, Liv-Ming is looking to represent at least 10 NZ wineries with each profitable enough to be sustainable. For the longer term, represent 30 NZ wineries is the goal that they have set for themselves.
